Senior officer at the Portuguese Environment Agency (water resources department). Main duties include research, study and development of methodologies and scientific-technical processes in water resources management, emphasising water reuse, health and environmental risk assessment and water resources damage.
Chair of the Portuguese mirror group for the ISO TC 282 for water reuse, expert in the Commission “Advisory Committee on Public Health Emergencies (ACPHE)” and national focal point in the European Commission CIS Working Group on Water Reuse. Project manager in IMPEL (European Union Network for the Implementation and Enforcement of Environmental Law), national contact point for the environment for the application of the Commission Recommendation (EU) 2021/472 on a common approach to establish a systematic surveillance of SARS-CoV-2 and its variants in wastewaters, national expert on the working group on water reuse from Conference of Ibero-American Water Directors (CODIA), and member of Environmental Performance Review (EPR) teams promoted by UNECE (2nd EPR of Armenia, 2022, and 2nd EPR of Mongolia, 2024: author of the “Water management” chapter). Editor of the Journal “Water Cycle” (ISSN: 2666-4453).
Several publications in scientific journals and conference proceedings related to water resources management, including water reuse, risk assessment and water pollution control. Participation as an invited speaker in several high-level conferences, expert missions and other events promoted by the European Commission.
