Annabel Dias Barrocas Fernandes holds a Degree in Chemistry – Scientific Branch at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto, and obtained a Doctorate in Chemistry at the University of Beira Interior (UBI) in 2014.
She is a contracted researcher at UBI and develops her research work in the Department of Chemistry.
Develops studies in the area of environmental electrochemistry in the degradation of persistent organic pollutants in real and simulated effluents, of which stand out the leachate from sanitary landfills and industrial landfills, effluents from fortified cork trees and from the production of olive oil and cheese, drugs and dyes. In this context, electrochemical processes are applied, namely anodic presentation, electrocoagulation and electro-Fenton, using anode materials such as boron-doped diamond and lead and tin oxides. Apply/develop analytical methodologies for the monitoring, throughout treatments, of parameters with environmental importance.
