Joana Magalhães Vieira

Graduation (06/2006) and master’s (12/2007) degrees in chemical engineering at Aveiro University (UA). PhD with distinction in Science and Engineering of Fibrous Materials at the University of Beira Interior (UBI), February 2023. Has been a monitoring professor in the Chemistry department since 2020 and is currently an invited assistant professor and researcher in the same department since 2023, developing teaching activities (in the disciplines of Materials Science and Technology, Chemistry I, Chemistry II, and Standard Chemistry), research with student guidance both in undergraduate projects and in master's dissertations. In the area of research, the main interests are centered on polymers (mainly biodegradable ones), fibrous materials and composites. In the area of composites, developed skills during the 5 years in which was integrated in the Composite Materials and Structures Unit (UMEC) of the Institute of Science and Innovation in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (INEGI) and in the area of paper during the graduation final project and PhD. Participated in several research projects funded by national and international programs. Author/co-author of several scientific articles in peer-review international journals. Co-author of the Primer Premio a la Mejor Comunicación del XXXI Simposio de la Sociedad Ibérica de Biomecánica y Biomateriales (2009).
