Maria Emília Costa Cabral Amaral holds a Degree in Paper Engineering, University of Beira Interior (UBI), in 1990. Master in Science and Technology of Paper and Forest Products, UBI / University of Aveiro, in 1994. PhD in Paper Engineering / Docteur en Génie des Procédés Papetiers, UBI / Institut National Polytecnique de Grenoble, in 2001. Trainee Assistant between 1990-1994, and Assistant between 1994-2001 in the Department of Paper Science and Technology (CTP), at UBI. She is an Auxiliary Professor in the Department of Chemistry at UBI since 2001. Member of the Scientific Council of the FibEnTech-UBI R&D Unit since 2001. Trainer in courses for middle and senior management in companies in the pulp and paper sector – TECNICELPA-UBI protocol. Taught theoretical, theoretical-practical and practical classes in the degrees of Paper Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry and Biotechnology; in the Integrated Master's Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, in Documental Sciences. She taught in the 1st and 2nd edition of the Master's Degree in Engineering of Paper Pulp Production Processes, Paper Pulp Production (University of Coimbra, University of Aveiro and University of Beira Interior). She has participated in some academic Juries for Doctorates and Masters. She also participated in several research projects funded by national and international programs (a total of 18).
Author/co-author of several Scientific articles in International Journals with referees, oral communications, and posters in national and international scientific conferences. Co-author of the 2007 Tecnicelpa Prize at an event promoted by the Portuguese Association of Technicians in the Pulp and Paper Industries.
