Maria Isabel Guerreiro da Costa Ismael has a degree in Chemistry, Organic / Biochemistry, at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon, 1987. PhD in Chemistry at UBI, 1997.
Auxiliary Professor and researcher at the Department of Chemistry at the University of Beira Interior (Covilhã, Portugal) and at the Research Unit of “Fibrous Materials and Environmental Technologies” (FibEnTech-UBI). She held several positions: President of the Department of Chemistry from November 2009 to October 2015, member of the Scientific Council of the Faculty of Sciences of UBI from November 2009 to October 2015. ERASMUS/LLP Chemistry Coordinator from 1991 to 2021. She was director of the Master's Course in Physics and Chemistry Teaching in the 3rd Cycle of Basic Education and in Secondary Education from 2006 to 2012. Director of the Master's Course in Medicinal Chemistry, from 2017 to 2019. Director of the 1st Cycle Medicinal Chemistry course since 2018. Organized technical and scientific events and was a member of scientific committees of national and international scientific and technical events. He is/was supervisor/co-supervisor of master's dissertations and doctoral theses.
